New Pickups

Right before the holidays, I helped Brian pick up this great running, blacked-out 1982 KZ440.
Runs perfect, well-maintained, and perfect for a first time rider.  Here's a pic from when we first picked it up.  I practically froze my dick off that night after test riding and loading it into the truck.  The guy he bought it from needed money to fund his XS1100 stretched street fighter project.  However, this one's probably gonna stay as is for a while.

Two weeks later I found a deal on a 1979 KZ400 for Nick.  Not running, but had a title, and the price couldn't be beat.

Lucky for us it wasn't as cold as when I helped Brian pick up his KZ.  Nick and I, on the other hand, had the great fortune of torrential downpours and 40mph wind gusts to deal with while we checked out this beauty.  Testing the compression of each cylinder proved to be a laughable experience as my boot kept slipping off the kickstarter and into Nicks nether regions, while he was crouched next to the engine attempting to read a practically illegible rain-covered gauge dial.
"Ah, the quintessential 'Before' shot."
After some rebuilt carbs, fresh gas, a new battery, and a couple other minor tweaks this bad bear will be on the road again.  Despite the Don "Magic" Juan-esque paint job which I'm quite partial to ("Green is for the money, and Gold is for the hunnies." -DMJ), Nicks says it'll be painted this Winter, and possibly for sale this Spring.  More to come....
